Welcome to the new section of my blog where I highlight some of the talented creatives that I’ve followed from around the world. These fortnightly posts will highlight a small amount of the talent that is already out there, and hopefully promote more collaboration, rather than competition between creatives.
This week we’re highlighting the work of Bukola Veronica, from Dublin, Ireland. She runs a blog focusing on fashion, beauty and lifestyle as well as an Instagram. If you haven’t already checked her social media, all her work is high quality, yet personalised so that you know she is really putting herself into all of her work. I’m very excited to be able to get to know her a little bit more.
You can find her all over the internet on her website, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook:
Let’s start with the basics, who are you? Where are you from?
I’m Bukola Veronica. Owner of http://www.bukolaveronica.com and I’m currently based in Dublin, Ireland.
Is your social media your day job/side income or hobby? What do you do outside of this?
At the moment, my social media (blog) is mainly a hobby but I hope to start earning from it soon. In the meantime, I’m a full-time student and I also work part time in a pharmacy.
What is your favourite thing about yourself?
My ability to stand up for myself and in what I believe in!
What is one goal you have for the next year?
For the next year, I hope to start collaborating more with different brands that I love so I could produce some good quality content for them. I would also like to improve my photography and editing skills. Also, I would love to do a lot more travelling. On a personal note, I would love to do a short course in fashion styling/digital marketing as I’m starting to discover my love for these two career paths. Oh, I would also love to learn how to swim!
What’s one way you’ve been challenged in the last year?
I put a lot of pressure on myself so trying to balance a blog, along with a part time job and being a full-time student has definitely been a challenge for me and has cause many restless nights for me. But I’m working on it and hopefully, I’ll achieve the perfect work/life/blog balance soon!
What influenced you to start your blog?
My major influence to starting my blog was the fact that I started getting tired of myself saying, “ooh, I would love to start a blog!”. I always wanted to share my personal style and just my general ideas and opinions with people and I knew that a blog (a little space on the internet that was in my own control) was the best way to do that. So, after being persuaded by my best friends, I decided to take the plunge and just start one and since then, I haven’t looked back!
How have you improved the quality of your content since you began?
I invested in a DSLR camera so my photography has definitely been a lot better. I’ve also started to be more particular on the kind of content I create and the direction I want my blog to go in (although I’m still figuring that part out).
Who are some of your favourite Bloggers?
Retro Flame (Erika Fox).
What’s the best piece of advice you have gotten in regards to your account?
Stay true to yourself and your content will speak for itself!
If you could be anyone else in the world, who would you be and why?
Zendaya, just so I could look through her wardrobe and take all her clothes!
What camera do you use?
Canon EOS 1300d.
What software do you use to edit your photos?
Lightroom & VSCO.
What destination is still on the top of your bucket list?
Travelling solo or with friends?
Group tours or your own itinerary?
A mixture of both.
