Welcome to the new section of my blog where I highlight some of the talented creatives that I’ve followed from around the world. These fortnightly posts will highlight a small amount of the talent that is already out there, and hopefully promote more collaboration, rather than competition between creatives.
This week we’re highlighting the work of Jo, a blogger, educator and travel addict from the Bronx, NY that I’ve been following for awhile now. What I love about Jo’s content is it’s high quality, yet relatable and filled with the positivity that we need on Instagram.
You can find her on:

Is your social media your day job/side income or hobby? If a hobby, what do you for work?
It’s a side hobby that will hopefully turn into a job. I’m a full-time teacher by day.
What is your favourite thing about yourself?
My go-getter attitude. I never let anything stop me from doing things that I want and what makes me happy (no matter what others have to say/think about it).
What is one goal you have for the next year?
To reach a bigger audience and become an influencer in the travel community.
What’s one way you’ve been challenged in the last year?
Trying to balance blogging with my personal obligations.
What influenced you to start your page/blog/channel?
One of my good friends encouraged me to start blogging, stating that I do so many great things, so I should share it with others.
How have you improved the quality of your content since you began?
I take much better photos now and engage with a lot of other bloggers a lot more.
Who are some of your favourite Instagram accounts?
@tiatakestheworld @divasdaytravel @purposefull_living @travelisthenewclub @aandsaroundtheworld
Who are some of your favourite Bloggers?
Onaika the Traveler Gloria Antanmo Luvvie Ajayi
What’s the best piece of advice you have gotten in regards to your account?
Be consistent with putting out content and engaging with other bloggers/influencers.
What’s your advice for the solo traveller who still wants great shots of themselves on the road?
Get a great tripod with a Bluetooth remote.
If you could be anyone else, who would you be?
I don’t think I’d want to be anyone else. A lot of other people inspire and motivate me to reach higher heights, but I love who God made me, and wouldn’t want to change that.
What would be the ultimate end goal with your social media?
I would ultimately like to be a full-time blogger/travel influencer. I would love to find way to monetize my brand so that I can travel freely, learn about other cultures, while helping others to fulfil their dreams of travel.
Have you met anyone through your social media? How did that go about?
Yes, I met another travel blogger through Instagram and we met up one evening in NYC. It was great to finally meet her in person after almost a year of following each other. I also recently took a trip with someone I met via a travel page. We communicated for almost a year before deciding to take a trip together and it was awesome!!!
What camera do you use?
What software do you use to edit your photos?
Which account/s would you love to collaborate with?
Where is your next travel destination?
Are you trying to spread a message with your social media? If so, what is it?
Solo travel is amazing/don’t wait on others to fulfill your dreams of travel
What destination is still on the top of your bucket list?
What is one piece of advice you have for someone who wants to travel but is overwhelmed by the process of planning and choosing the right trip?
Start with a smaller trip, somewhere not too far from home and not for too many days at first. Another piece of advice would be to ask for tips from people that have been to places you want to go. They can help with the planning process.
What has been your favourite destination so far? Why?
Paris is a favorite. I can’t really put it into words, but I loved everything about it: the food, the architecture, the people. The overall ambiance of it was amazing.
