Welcome to the new section of my blog where I highlight some of the talented creatives that I’ve followed from around the world. These fortnightly posts will highlight a small amount of the talent that is already out there, and hopefully promote more collaboration, rather than competition between creatives.
This week we’re highlighting the work of Elle from Sydney, Australia but currently living in London. Not going to lie, i’m a bit of a fangirl, and find myself religiously watching her stories & liking/commenting on her posts. It’s so hard to be authentic with good quality content online, but Elle manages to do that, letting her audience in on the ups and downs of her life, which I think is where the appeal comes from.
Is your social media your day job/side income or hobby? If a hobby, what do you for work?
I work full time as a Social Media Strategist & Copywriter.
What is your favourite thing about yourself?
When I set a goal, I do everything in my power to achieve it. I get it from my parents – they’re both very goal oriented and work extremely hard.
What is one goal you have for the next year?
To be able to work as a freelancer, rather than full time for one company!
What’s one way you’ve been challenged in the last year?
Moving to a different country is a bloody hard gig. It requires patience, organisation and a lot of savings.
What is the main focus of your content?
Literally everything that we come across in our daily lives – fashion, lifestyle, love, beauty, fitness. You name it, I’ve probably written about it.
What influenced you to start your page/blog/channel?
It actually all started when I was in university and wanted to lose a few kilos. It began as a fitness blog, but eventually turned into a lifestyle blog and somewhere I could record all of my thoughts.
How have you improved the quality of your content since you began?
Yes! When I first began, I had no idea what I was doing. It’s been a real accomplishment to be able to improve my content throughout the years. I even just purchased a drone!
Who or what inspires you the most?
My parents. They are extremely hard-working, inspiring individuals that motivate me to try my best.
Who are some of your favourite Instagram accounts?
@kelseyinlondon (one of my good friends) creates really beautiful content.
What’s the best piece of advice you have gotten in regards to your account?
Forget the numbers. As soon as you let go of an expected engagement rate, number of comments or likes, you start to really enjoy the ride.
What’s your advice for the solo traveller who still wants great shots of themselves on the road?
Bring a tripod! And look both ways when you’re shooting.
What’s your opinion on selling and buying lightroom presets?
I think it pays off to develop a filter of your own, and teach yourself lightroom if you’ve got time. If not, go for it!
Have you met anyone through your social media?
So many people. I get lots of girls inboxing me that want to meet up, and I’ve met some of my best friends through Instagram.
What camera do you use?
A Canon EOS M3
What software do you use to edit your photos?
VSCO and Snapseed
What is your top pick for a solo traveller on New Years?
Sydney! Nothing quite beats home.
Where is your next travel destination?
Salzburg, Austria. Bring on the Sound of Music tour!
Are you trying to spread a message with your social media? If so, what is it?
Yes – love yourself. Let yourself be loved. Love the life you live. And live the life you love.
What destination is still on the top of your bucket list?
What is one piece of advice you have for someone who wants to travel but is overwhelmed by the process of planning and choosing the right trip?
Start from the basics – budget and dates. Then go from there!
What has been your favourite destination so far? Why?
Iceland – it’s breath taking. I wrote a large series about this on my blog at www.livewithelle.com
Travelling solo or with friends?
Group tours or your own itinerary?
